Questions and Useful Information
Everything you need to know about a RIB trip
Is a boating licence required to rent a RIB?
No. If you choose a RIB with an engine of up to 40 HP, you can drive it without a boating licence. If you would rather relax and enjoy the scenery, you can rent a boat with a skipper, who can take you to quieter and more secluded coves.
What happens if it is windy or the sea is rough?
Safety comes first. If weather and sea conditions do not allow a safe trip, the excursion is normally moved to the next available date or refunded. The archipelago offers many sheltered areas, so even with stronger winds it is often possible to find protected coves with calm water.
What is a typical itinerary in the archipelago?
Although the itinerary may change according to the wind, the unmissable stops usually include:
-
Spargi (Cala Corsara)
-
Budelli (Pink Beach and the natural pools of Porto della Madonna)
-
Santa Maria
-
Caprera (Cala Coticcio, the famous “Tahiti”)
What should I bring on board?
We recommend bringing a few light but essential items:
-
Biodegradable sunscreen to help protect the ecosystem.
-
Plenty of drinking water.
-
Snorkelling equipment, including a mask and snorkel.
-
A hat and a light shirt for the hottest hours.
Is there an environmental or landing fee?
Yes. Access to La Maddalena Archipelago National Park requires an environmental ticket. When renting a RIB, always check whether this fee is included in the price or must be paid separately before departure.
